Davie Park, Rattray Improvements
We Asked
In March 2025, the Community Greenspace Team consulted with local residents on potential improvements to the play area and wider greenspace at Davie Park, Rattray.
Five areas within the park were identified for potential development, and residents were invited to share their views on a range of possible improvements. The consultation sought to understand how the park could better support play, recreation, community activities and enjoyment of the outdoors for people of all ages.
You Said
We received valuable feedback from the local community on the types of facilities and improvements people would like to see at Davie Park. Residents highlighted the importance of:
- Enhancing opportunities for play and recreation.
- Creating spaces for community activities and events.
- Improving accessibility and inclusivity.
- Making better use of existing greenspace.
- Enhancing the overall appearance and experience of the park.
We Did
Using the feedback received, our Landscape Architects developed a design that reflects community aspirations while remaining achievable within the available funding.
We are pleased to confirm that works are planned to take place during autumn 2026 and will include:
- Creation of a new community events area.
- Development of a garden space with natural play elements.
- Installation of a new climbing net.
- New seating and a shelter to support community activities and informal gatherings.
- Installation of a human-powered DJ unit, allowing users to crank the equipment to activate and amplify music played from mobile phones.
- Extensive renewal of surfacing within the play areas.
- Cleaning and repainting of sports courts.
- New sensory planting around parts of the play area.
- Improvements to accessibility in and around the play spaces.
- Improvements to paths within the adjacent Loonbraes area.
The Result
The final design has been shaped by the ideas and feedback provided by local residents and represents a significant investment in Davie Park as a welcoming, accessible and active community greenspace.

Davie Park, Rattray Improvements Overview

The plan identifies proposed works across the park, including biodiversity improvements to grassland areas, a new orchard and food-growing area, a community events garden with a shelter and climbing net, a human-powered DJ unit, resurfacing and sensory landscaping of existing play mounds, replacement of all play surfacing with new materials, cleaning and repainting of existing sports courts, accessibility improvements around the play areas, retention of an area of greenspace for future community-led development, and path improvements within the adjacent Loonbraes area.
The plan shows an overall enhancement of recreation, play, biodiversity and community facilities throughout the park.
