Primary Care GP Premises Patient Survey
Feedback updated 20 Sep 2024
We asked
The Perth & Kinross Primary Care Premises Strategy was approved by the P&K Integrated Joint Board (IJB) in June 2023.
Perth & Kinross Primary Care Team set out a Communication, Participation and Engagement Plan to support delivery of the Premises Strategy.
This includes collaboration and involvement with our community stakeholders in the planning, design and delivery of how and where we deliver services through a co-production & co-design approach. Service users can provide valuable perspectives on the state of practice premises and their ability to meet the needs of the service.

Accessibility, functionality, and comfort emerge as central themes, emphasising the importance of creating premises that are easily accessible, well-equipped, and conducive to positive patient experiences.
Integration of services in these premises is paramount, facilitating seamless collaboration among healthcare providers and offering comprehensive care locally. There are many other important themes and detailed feedback, which can be explored further in the full report.
We did
Based on the consultation findings, we are implementing an action plan to improve primary care premises across Perth & Kinross with a focus on targeted funding and practice-specific initiatives. We will continue engaging with stakeholders to ensure ongoing collaboration and feedback.

Overview
Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership is keen to hear patients’ views about their GP premises. This survey is for residents of Perth & Kinross.
Your responses will give us a better understanding of how patients view their local GP practice or health centre and help us to understand what patients think about how we should be planning for the future of service provision in local communities.
Why your views matter
To ensure you continue to have access to the best possible health care we are planning some changes to the way services are delivered in primary care, which includes how care is provided in GP practices.
These changes are needed for a number of reasons which include:
- Nationally, GPs need to provide increasingly more complex care to a growing population
- Perth and Kinross has an increasingly older population who have more complex needs
- There is a national shortage of doctors, including here in Perth and Kinross. This is due to issues with recruiting and retaining doctors and many of our doctors are nearing retirement
One of the ways to address some of those challenges is to move towards providing care to patients using a multi-disciplinary team. This means patients receive care from other health professionals working at the GP practice.
The team members work alongside the GP, and each member of the team has a particular skill set and specialist knowledge. For example, physiotherapists, pharmacists and mental health and wellbeing nurses. Another way to help use your time and the health professional's time better is to offer telephone appointments or virtual appointments.
To deliver the care needed today, and into the future, GP practices and the buildings where they are based, need to be able to adapt.
This survey is part of Perth and Kinross Health and Social Partnership’s Primary Care Premises Strategy which sets out how we move from where we are now to a future which enables general practice to continue to meet the healthcare needs of the people in Perth & Kinross.
