Davies Park Play Area Consultation
Results updated 1 Dec 2022
Following the return of the questionnaires and evaluation, it was clear that the play area aspirations were bigger than just a straight refurbishment of the existing facility. As a result of this a local group (kinrosscommunitycouncil@gmail.com) has been set up and the group are currently sourcing and applying for additional funding for larger play area and Cycle/Pump Track. The allocated funding for the play area remains and will be used as a catalyst to attract further funding, it was felt that simply replacing play equipment in a similar layout and of a similar style would be a missed opportunity when potentially something larger could be created.

Overview
*** SEE FOOT OF PAGE FOR SEPTEMBER 2024 UPDATE***
Perth & Kinross Council look after over 160 play areas across the region, from large facilities at our major parks to rural and local play areas right on your doorstep. Davis Park play area in Kinross has now come to the top of our list and in order to make improvements which suit everybody's needs, we're asking you to take part in our small survey and consultation.
Why your views matter
In the spirit of the Perth and Kinross Offer we want to work together with citizens, communities and businesses to explore ways to transform and maintain our play areas. We encourage you to get involved, create new opportunities, think differently and take actions to improve the play facilities in your local area. We are already engaged with the local youth team and hope to include their ideas into the design proposals www.kythe.org.uk
Please complete the survey or get in touch with us by e-mail if you would like to tell us your ideas.
Our team will review the responses that we receive and identify what the most prominent themes are. From these we’ll decide on the types of play equipment to be installed. We’ll then produce a design layout which reflects the key elements of your feedback, at which point you’ll be given the opportunity to comment and amendments can be made if required and they are within budget constraints.
What happens next
***UPDATE SETEMBER 2024***
Initially this project was due to start towards the end of 2022. Circumstances changed, as did the available funding and due to the Scottish Government funds made available the budget increased. A redesign of the play area took place from 2023 onwards and work finally began on site on the 12th September 2024. It's expected that the work will take around 6 weeks but this is of course dependent on so many influencing factors as you can appreciate but we'll endeavour to keep you updated.
The community members involved have been very patient and provided valuable input into the scheme and we are very grateful for this. The local community have been excellent in driving this project, providing every detail relating to the site history, even the specific trains that used to run on the lines that once passed through. Ultimately this gave us the theme for the new facility upgrade, that of a train play house and train track symbols with hop scotch and even a train station themed sign with some old museum photos of the former station ‘Kinross Junction’ once on the very same site.
Please do not hesitate to call Nick Riley if you have any questions about the process or works on site.
