These results of the consultation were included in a report to Housing and Communities Committee on January 29th 2020, when the rent levels for 2020/21 were set.
The Committee agreed a 3.5% rent rise for 2020/21, in line with the views of tenants. This will keep rents affordable whilst allowing us to make the investments in Housing Services that tenants have told us they want. The rent increase will come into effect from April 2020.

Overview
We are giving Perth & Kinross Council tenants the chance to vote on the level of rent you will pay for 2020/21.
Why your views matter
Each year the Council reviews the rent levels we charge to tenants for the housing services we provide. These annual reviews are necessary to ensure that we continue to meet our duties to you as a landlord and maintain high levels of service delivery. Any increase in rent is required to cover additional costs such as inflation, price increases for stock and supplies and to ensure we have enough money to maintain our properties.
The rent increase is one of the most important decisions that we take each year and because this decision affects all 7,636 tenants it’s very important that you have an opportunity to have your say.
We want to give all tenants a voice in decisions that affect you, your home and the services that you receive. So, for the third year we are consulting and engaging with you over the level of rent to be set for the next 12 months - 2020/21. As in previous years, three options are being proposed.
These rent level options are based on what you, our tenants, have told us are your priorities for investment in your Housing Services. In Spring 2019 we carried out the Your Rent, Your Say, Your Priorities Survey to ask how you wanted your rent money spent.
To find out what the rent options for 2020/21 are and the impact they would have on the rent you pay for your home as well as the housing services we can deliver, please make sure you read the Rent Level Options document below before you vote (if you have difficulty viewing this in your browser you can download it here). A hard copy was also sent out to you with the Autumn 2019 On The House magazine.
The results of this consultation will be presented to councillors on the Housing and Communities Committee in January 2020 when a final decision will be made on rent levels for 2020/21.
If you have any questions or would like further information about this consultation please contact your Locality Housing Team on 01738 476000 (choose Option 2) or email HNeighbourhoodServices@ pkc.gov.uk
This year's rent level proposals were outlined to tenants at the Tenant Autumn Conference on October 3rd 2019. In the links below you can watch a video of the presentation on rent setting from Housing Managers and also view the accompanying slides.
What happens next
The results of this consultation will be presented to councillors on the Housing and Health Committee in January 2020 when a final decision will be made on rent levels for 202/21. The results will give councillors a strong indication of the feelings of tenants which will help inform them when making a decision.
