Overview
A local resident and owner of an adjacent property (the “Enquiring Party”) has expressed interest in purchasing a Perth and Kinross Council owned 0.56 acre woodland site at Perth Road, Stanley, as set out on the plan below. The aim of this consultation is to allow the local community in Stanley to have their say on the future ownership of this site.
We acquired the site in 1991 by way of a statutory conveyance. At present the site is held as a Community Greenspace asset. Although the nature of the site means that it is not suitable for recreational use, its value in terms of biodiversity has been informally recognised and the site has been protected by a Tree Preservation Order since 1987. The Enquiring Party has advised that they would aspire to improve the management of the woodland if we sold it to them.
Why your views matter
We are agreeable to a disposal to either this resident or to a willing local community group, should such a group express an interest.
We want to hear the input and feedback of the Stanley community on this proposal as we value your opinion on this matter.
Feedback received during the course of this consultation will be used to inform our decision-making process on the future ownership or management of this woodland site.
Whichever option has the backing of the community, if, within a six-month timescale, either satisfactory progress is not made toward a purchase by the Enquiring Party, or if satisfactory progress is not made toward a lease or purchase by a suitable community group, then in either case we reserve the right to seek to progress the alternative option.
What happens next
Once the consultation closes, the responses received will be used to inform the Council’s decision-making process on the future ownership of this woodland site. The results of the consultation will also be made available on this page of the Consultation Hub. Any consultation responses that are received may be published along with the Council’s decision.
