Pitlochry and Moulin Community Food Growing consultation
Overview
Community food growing offers an opportunity for communities to come together and create a project that provides fresh local produce to individuals and/or the community. It can also provide an opportunity to improve your physical and mental wellbeing as well as a place to meet other members of the community.
During the development of the PKC Community Food Growing Strategy in 2021 some individuals from the Pitlochry and Moulin community expressed interest in starting a community food growing site in the area.
We're aware of the existing food growing provision in Pitlochry and Moulin, provided by the Moulin Community Garden and the Pitlochry Garden Share scheme. (You can find out more about these and how you can get involved in the survey below.)
We're now consulting so as to better understand whether the existing provision as it stands meets the needs of the community or whether additional different types of community food growing are required, e.g. an allotment site or other food growing opportunities.
The survey can be saved at any time and completed at a later date but must be submitted by the 3rd of November 2024.
Paper copies of the survey area also available at the Atholl Centre and Library.
Why your views matter
Members of the community and we at the council would like to understand the level of demand for a community growing area, what type of growing space is required and if any land is currently available or of interest. This is your chance to have your say early on and help begin to shape the sort of food growing space that suits YOUR needs.
This is YOUR food growing project and it's YOUR views that matter. We want to hear all of your ideas about starting up a new growing area in the Pitlochry and Moulin area. Do you want individual plots or shared areas? Do you want communal areas, raised beds, sheds or a common room? Will there be parking space, disabled access, cycle shelters?
