Penny4YourThoughts - Public Toilet Facilities in Perth and Kinross
Overview
Perth & Kinross Council (PKC) would like to know what you think about the 13 public toilets in Perth and Kinross and whether they meet your needs. The Council would also like to know if the public toilets and comfort schemes are in places where you need them or if you’d like to ‘spend a penny’ in other places.
Why your views matter
There are toilet facilities in towns and villages across the Council area:
- There are 13 public toilets across Perth and Kinross, which are owned and managed by the Council. These are a mixture of automated public conveniences, attended and unattended toilets.
- The Council also works in partnership with local businesses and public buildings to offer toilet facilities free of charge to anyone who needs them.
- The full list of public toilets can be viewed at www.pkc.gov.uk/publictoilets and at www.pkc.gov.uk/wcmap
This survey is part of an ongoing Public Toilet Review, being carried out by PKC's Waste Services Team, to assess the Council’s assets. The public toilets have been in situ for approximately 20 years and PKC Officers are currently fact finding to confirm whether they are still in the best locations to meet needs, and to confirm the scale of any refurbishment works at each facility which could be undertaken in the near future. For example, the Automated Public Conveniences have a lifespan of approximately 25 years and will require works in the near future unless they can be replaced with alternative facilities.
As part of making PKC’s public toilets fit for purpose and accessible for everyone over the next few years, PKC Officers are listening to feedback from visitors to the area and residents who live, work and shop across Perth and Kinross. Together, we can make decisions about the public toilet provision across Perth and Kinross.
Whether you are a local resident or a visitor to Perth and Kinross, please give us your feedback. We will use the results of the consultation to plan any changes and improvements to the facilities in Perth and Kinross. We aim to increase the accessibility of toilets so that as many people as possible can enjoy their time here.
The survey is available online by clicking on the link below or a paper copy can be requested via the Council’s Customer Service Centre by telephoning 01738 476476.
What happens next
We will use the results of the consultation to plan any changes and improvements to the facilities in Perth and Kinross. We aim to increase the accessibility of toilets so that as many people as possible can enjoy their time here.
The results of the survey will build a case, alongside the Public Toilet Review, for which public toilets need to be refurbished or adapted to make them more accessible, whether any could be replaced with Comfort Schemes at nearby business premises, or if a local group could take on the day-to-day management of the toilet facility in their community, or if all of the toilets could become unattended if they don’t warrant being attended.
The results of the survey will be made available, in due course, on www.pkc.gov.uk/publictoilets
As decisions are made about the works needed at each public toilet, or the changes that need to come about, updates will be given at www.pkc.gov.uk/publictoilets
