Coupar Angus Community Food Growing consultation
Overview
Community food growing offers an opportunity for communities to come together and create a project that provides fresh local produce to individuals and/or the community. Community food growing projects can also provide an opportunity to improve your physical and mental wellbeing as well as a place to meet other members of the community.
Members of the community, including the 'Isla Gardeners' who manage the community garden on Caddam Road, have approached the Council with an interest in creating a new community food growing area. Before we go further we need to consult the wider community so all opinions are understood.
Paper copies of the survey area also available at the Strathmore Community Hub in Trades Lane.
A drop-in session for the consultation will also be held on the 21st of October at the Strathmore Community Hub, Trades Lane from 3pm-7pm. There'll be an opportunity to put questions to the PKC Food Growing Officer and receive assistance if needed to complete the consultation.
Why your views matter
As this project will be managed by members of the community it's vital that we hear from as many of you as possible so that we get this right for everyone.
We want to hear all of your ideas about starting up a new growing area in Coupar Angus. Do you want individual plots or shared areas? Do you want communal areas, raised beds, sheds or a common room? Will there be parking space, disabled access, cycle shelters?
Members of the community and we at the council would like to understand the level of demand for a community growing area, what type of growing space is required and if any land is currently of interest. This is your chance to have your say early on and help begin to shape the sort of food growing space that suits your needs.
