Big Place Conversation
Overview
What is the Big Place Conversation?
The Big Place Conversation aims to find out from you what is good in your town, village or neighbourhood and what could be improved, and what it might need in the future. This will help produce the next Local Development Plan, Mobility Strategy and could also help your community develop its own Local Place Plan or Community Action Plan. The information that is gathered will also help inform other Council departments as to what is needed in different places. Keep an eye on the Big Place Conversation webpage for more events you can take part in.
Who Is Engaging
The Council is engaging with individuals and communities in our area and this online survey is one of several ways you may give us your views.
Who Can Participate
Anyone can complete the questionnaire including, but not limited to;
- Individuals
- Groups of friends or colleagues
- Community bodies
- Third sector organisations
- Special interest groups such as climate cafes or sports groups
How We Are Engaging
The Big Place Conversation will have many opportunities for people to have their say about your place. We will be using the Place Standard tool to help hold conversations including:
- this online place standard survey for individuals and groups
- in-person place conversations
- virtual place conversations
- groups can also carry out or be involved in their own place discussion
This phase of the Big Place Conversation closes on 31 August 2023 and further information will be published on our website as the programme of engagement activity develops.
Events
The Big Place Conversation website has details of our events. The first public events in January to March 2023 will cover neighbourhoods in Perth including the city centre and everyone is welcome to join in on the conversation. Further events will follow across other areas of Perth and Kinross throughout the rest of the year.
Why your views matter
Understanding what is good about a place now, and what could be better, is the starting point for making better decisions and targeting resources where they are needed. It's more important than ever for us to think about how we can make our places more sustainable, for both people and the environment.
Your views are important to help us understand what is good in your town, village or neighbourhood in Perth City, and what could be improved.
How we use your personal information
The information provided by you will be used by Perth & Kinross Council to record your views about your place, to keep you up to date on the Big Place Conversation and to enable us to answer any questions you may ask us. We may share your information with other Council departments in order to address your enquiry or register your interest. We will keep your information for one year, then ask you if you wish us to keep it on our mailing list.
The information will not be disclosed to third parties except if we’re required to do so in order to prevent or detect crime or where required by law.
