Improving advocacy services in Perth and Kinross

Overview

Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership is developing a Strategic Advocacy Plan for Perth and Kinross.

An organisation is defined as providing advocacy if it gives impartial and independent  information and support (but not advice) to help safeguard people who are vulnerable, at risk or discriminated against, or who traditional services find difficult to reach.

Advocacy also represents a person’s views, either by supporting someone to express their own views or representing the views of the person if they are not able to do it themselves.

The new Strategic Plan will look at several aspects of advocacy:

  • Advocacy options in Perth and Kinross
  • Where current provision is effective and well-planned
  • Identify current unmet need
  • How we plan to address unmet need

We want to hear from:

  • Organisations who refer people to advocacy services
  • Organisations that provide advocacy services
  • People who use advocacy services
  • People who don't use advocacy services but who are interested

The survey has a section for each of these groups - you can fill in the section that applies to you.

Why your views matter

The following consultation questions will help us understand what is working well, and where gaps exist in advocacy services. The results will inform the Strategic Advocacy Plan, which is due to be published in September 2019 and will be available on the Perth & Kinross Council website.
